Neu! are a German krautrock band formed in Düsseldorf in 1971, emerging from the West German experimental rock scene and initially active in the early 1970s. Their music is characterised by a steady 'motorik' beat, sparse, repetitive arrangements and use of electronic textures and tape manipulation, and after an initial run they released sporadic material and archival recordings while their work has been cited as an influence on post‑punk, electronic and ambient artists.
