British Punk

British Punk music burst onto the scene in the mid-1970s, a rebellious explosion that shook the very foundations of popular culture. Originating as a response to the socio-political climate of the time, it was fuelled by frustration with the status quo, high unemployment, and a general sense of disillusionment. Bands like the Sex Pistols and The Clash became the poster children for this movement, granting a voice to the voiceless and revelling in chaos. With their fast tempos, raw energy, and unpolished sound, British Punk encapsulated a spirit that was both defiant and liberating; it was all about expressing dissatisfaction, whether through anthems like 'God Save the Queen' or 'London Calling'.

Lyrically, punk wasn’t precisely Shakespearean.
