Garage Rock

Garage rock burst onto the scene in the 1960s, when bands from America’s garages decided that waiting for studio perfection was far less appealing than just smashing out raw riffs and dodgy vocals. Characterised by its gritty sound and an 'anyone-can-do-it' ethos, it often resembles an enthusiastic but slightly chaotic jam session where the band might forget what song they were playing halfway through. It's the kind of music that makes you want to spill your pint and dance like nobody's watching, even if they're all watching and judging your moves.
