Oi

Oi! emerged in the late 1970s in the UK, when punk rock decided it needed a more working-class label—because apparently 'punk' was just too fancy for some. It’s characterised by its raw energy, singalong choruses, and an unapologetic blend of British street culture and football chants, making it the musical equivalent of a raucous pub brawl, but with slightly more melody. Oi! has also been known to attract its fair share of unsavoury characters, leaving you to wonder whether the music or the crowd is more intimidating, depending on which pub you're in.
