Post Hardcore
Post-Hardcore emerged in the 1980s, primarily in the United States, when musicians realised that simply smashing their instruments wasn't enough, and began to add a layer of emotional depth that was previously reserved for lengthy poems about heartbreak. Sonically, it combines the raw intensity of hardcore punk with more melodic elements, making it sound like a therapy session punctuated by explosive guitar riffs and the occasional existential crisis. It's a genre that invites fans to both mosh and ponder, often resulting in wonderfully confused expressions during live performances.
