Hardcore Punk

Hardcore punk sprang up in the late 1970s, especially in the US and later the UK, as a reaction to the more mainstream and often overly polished punk rock that was starting to dominate. It sounds like a caffeinated jack-in-the-box with its fast tempos, aggressive vocals, and a general tendency to blast social and political commentary at high volume; think musical rage in a bottle. The genre’s penchant for DIY ethics paved the way for countless underground movements, proving that you can indeed shout your opinions through a guitar and still make a decent cuppa afterwards.
