Fred Frith is an English experimental guitarist, composer and improviser who began his career in the late 1960s as a founding member of the avant-rock group Henry Cow and subsequently pursued a diverse solo and collaborative career. His work employs extended guitar techniques, prepared instruments and studio experimentation across experimental rock, free improvisation and contemporary classical contexts, and spans composed works, live improvisation and soundtrack projects within avant-garde and underground music circles.
