Digital Underground

Digital Underground are an American hip hop group formed in Oakland, California, in 1987, known for their funk-influenced sound and theatrical persona. Drawing heavily on 1970s funk aesthetics and sampling, their music blended party-oriented rap, humorous lyrics and alter-ego characters, and their colourful stage shows and production helped shape aspects of West Coast hip hop in the late 1980s and 1990s.
