P Funk

P-Funk originated in the late 1960s, primarily in the United States, as George Clinton decided that funk could be more psychedelic, outrageous, and possibly include a spaceship or two. Characterised by its thick grooves, sprawling horn sections, and Parliament's thrilling notion that a concept album could take you to outer space whilst you dance, it’s essentially funk on a sugar high. Fans of P-Funk will assure you that its legacy is strong, as it has spawned an array of subgenres and artists who, quite frankly, think they can out-funk the original, bless them.
