Robert Lloyd is an English singer and songwriter from the West Midlands who began his career in the late 1970s within the local punk scene, fronting the Prefects before founding and leading the Nightingales, and is associated with post-punk and alternative rock. His music is characterised by a blunt vocal delivery and literate, often sardonic lyrics, evolving from raw punk energy into more angular, experimental post-punk and alternative forms while maintaining a persistent presence in the UK's independent music scene.
