Béatrice et Bénédict is an opéra comique in two acts by French composer Hector Berlioz, premiered in 1862. Musically it blends lyrical vocal writing, transparent orchestration and light-hearted ensemble textures drawn from comic-opera traditions, and it occupies a distinct place in Berlioz's output as a smaller-scale, more intimate stage work compared with his larger symphonic and dramatic compositions.
