Hugh the Drover is an opera by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, first performed in 1924. The work mixes English folk-influenced melodies, colourful orchestration and straightforward lyric vocal writing within a pastoral, nationalist idiom, reflecting Vaughan Williams's interest in folk song and his efforts to bring vernacular English elements into his theatrical output.
