Jazz Fusion

Jazz Fusion emerged in the late 1960s, primarily in the United States, when jazz musicians decided that the rules of jazz could do with a bit of a wild night out on the town and a couple of rock and funk mates. It's characterised by a delightful mix of improvised melodies, complex rhythms, and the kind of musicianship that makes you wonder if they secretly signed a pact with the devil for those skills. This genre not only sparked debates in jazz circles but also gave us two-hour albums that somehow manage to be both brilliant and a little bit exhausting, rather like having a chat with your most enthusiastic mate about their cat.
