Instrumental Rock emerged in the 1960s as guitarists decided that bleeding-heart lyrics were overrated, and instead, they could express their feelings through an electric six-string and a touch of reverb. Characterised by soaring melodies, intricate solos, and the delightful absence of someone yelling about their ex, it often feels like a soundtrack to a heist—if the heist was staged in an epic landscape with plenty of dramatic lighting.
