Jan Garbarek

Jan Garbarek is a Norwegian jazz saxophonist who began his professional career in the late 1960s within the European jazz scene and later recorded extensively for the ECM label. His music blends elements of Nordic folk, ambient and avant-garde jazz, evolving from free-jazz roots into a spacious, lyrical approach that has intersected with classical and world-music traditions and contributed to international perceptions of Scandinavian jazz.
