John Cale

John Cale (born 1942) is a Welsh composer, multi‑instrumentalist and producer who co‑founded the Velvet Underground before embarking on a solo career spanning experimental rock, classical composition, drone and art pop. Classically trained and active in the 1960s New York avant‑garde (including work with La Monte Young), his music often draws on minimalism, dissonance and literary sources.
