Lee Ranaldo (born 3 February 1956 in Long Island, New York) is an American musician, writer and visual artist who was a guitarist and founding member of Sonic Youth; Sonic Youth are an alternative rock band. His work spans experimental rock, noise and avant‑garde composition, and he has released solo albums, collaborated with contemporary composers and published books of poetry and fiction.
