Glam Rock
Glam rock emerged in the early 1970s, primarily in the UK, as a raucous celebration of flamboyance, glitter, and the inherent ridiculousness of rock culture. Characterised by outrageous costumes, heavy make-up, and catchy hooks, it sounds like a joyous musical carnival where camp theatrics run riot, and the guitars are turned up to eleven just for good measure. This genre not only left a glitter trail that still sparkles today but also taught us that sometimes, it’s perfectly acceptable to wear sequins whilst belting out anthems about love and excess.
