Alternative Metal
Alternative Metal emerged in the late 1980s, primarily in the US, when bored musicians decided to mix the grunge of their youths with a splash of heavy metal, creating something uniquely rebellious and slightly perplexing. It's marked by a penchant for heavy guitar riffs, introspective lyrics, and a sound that can flip from melodic to downright aggressive in the blink of an eye, like a cat that suddenly decides it prefers the warmth of your laptop over the sun. Some say it paved the way for countless mosh pits and emotional existential crises amongst fans, who are still debating whether angst is a valid substitute for therapy.
