Groove Metal

Groove Metal emerged in the late 1980s, mainly from the United States, when musicians thought, 'Why not mix heavy metal with those funky rhythms nobody saw coming?' It's characterised by thick guitar riffs and a relentless rhythm section, making it sound like the band's really trying to convince you to join their relentless headbanging club. This genre has also accidentally popularised the idea that headbanging could replace a good fitness routine, so there's that.
