Mory Kanté

Mory Kanté was a Guinean singer and kora player who began his career in the 1970s, performing a fusion of traditional West African music, Afro-pop and electronic dance music. His work blended Mandinka kora patterns and call-and-response vocals with synthesiser arrangements and dance rhythms, evolving between dance-oriented Afro-pop and more acoustic, roots-focused material and contributing to wider international recognition of West African musical traditions.
