First Rays of the New Rising Sun is a posthumous compilation album by American rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix, released in 1997. The release collects electric rock, blues and psychedelic recordings that showcase Hendrix's guitar-driven sound, studio experimentation and varied song structures, and was assembled as an attempt to present the material he had been working on for a planned fourth studio album at the time of his death.
