Cello Concertos

Album by Joseph Haydn & Georg Matthias Monn & Jean‐Guihen Queyras & Freiburger Barockorchester & Petra Müllejans

Cello Concertos are two concertos for cello by Austrian composer Joseph Haydn, composed in the 1760s. They exemplify Classical-era orchestral and solo writing with clear melodic lines, balanced phrasing and a conversational interplay between solo cello and orchestra, and they occupy an important position in Haydn's instrumental output and in the 18th-century cello repertoire.
