On Avery Island is the debut studio album by American collective Neutral Milk Hotel, released in 1996, combining lo‑fi indie rock, psychedelic folk and noise experimentation with brass and tape collage. Its lyrics explore surreal, dreamlike and introspective themes, and it was produced by Jeff Mangum with Robert Schneider of the Elephant 6 collective.
