Lo Fi

Lo-fi music emerged in the 1980s, primarily out of the bedroom recording scene where aspiring musicians realised that sometimes the charm of a song is in its imperfections, like a slightly dodgy DIY haircut. Characterised by its soft beats, warm vinyl crackles, and a pleasantly hazy quality that makes you feel like you're drifting through your own daydream, it's the perfect soundtrack for pretending to work whilst really just scrolling through cat videos. It has since become a favourite amongst students and hipsters alike, proving that if you can't impress with talent, there's always the option of being endearingly lo-fi instead.
