Violin Concertos
Album by Jean Sibelius & Samuel Barber & Renaud Capuçon & Orchestre de la Suisse Romande & Daniel Harding
Violin Concerto in D minor is the only violin concerto by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, completed in 1904 and revised in 1905. Rooted in late-Romantic and national-romantic idioms, the work juxtaposes expansive, lyrical orchestral writing with technically demanding solo violin passages and represents a major contribution to both Sibelius's oeuvre and the violin repertoire.
