Industrial Metal

Industrial Metal emerged in the late 1980s, primarily in the industrial scenes of the UK and the US, where musicians decided that guitars weren’t noisy enough and added piles of synths and samples to the mix just to annoy the neighbours. It's characterised by heavy guitar riffs, aggressive vocals, and an overall aesthetic that looks like a cyberpunk factory exploded in a pit of angst. Much like that one friend who insists on mixing a peculiar cocktail of every drink at the bar, the genre has a devoted following that passionately debates just how many layers of distortion are enough.
