Industrial
Industrial music emerged in the mid-1970s, mostly from the UK and the US, when musicians decided that simply making a noise was just as valid as producing a tune, especially after a couple of pints. Characterised by harsh sounds, repetitive beats, and, let’s be honest, the occasional sampled train wreck, it’s the sort of music that makes you question both your sanity and your hearing. This genre has since inspired a legion of fans who are more than happy to explain how a good abrasive sound can be beautiful—if you’re into that sort of thing, of course.
