Death Metal artists
Death metal sprang to life in the mid-1980s, mainly in Florida, when musicians decided that playing as loudly and as technically as possible was the way to go, whilst simultaneously exploring the art of growling as a form of communication. The sound is a cacophony of down-tuned guitars, blast beats, and guttural vocals, which gives the impression that the singer might be auditioning for a role as a particularly unhappy monster. This genre has somehow managed to forge a devoted following, proving that if you dress like a corpse and scream your feelings, people will indeed cheer you on, raising a pint of something dark and sticky in solidarity.
