Martti Talvela
Martti Talvela was a Finnish operatic bass born in Hiitola in 1935 who began his professional singing career in the 1950s and worked primarily in opera and concert repertoire. His repertoire emphasised Wagner and Russian operas, and he combined operatic roles with concert and recording work, representing Finnish vocal tradition internationally during the mid-20th century.
