Ornette Coleman

Ornette Coleman was an American jazz saxophonist and composer from Fort Worth, Texas, who began his career in the early 1950s and became associated with the free jazz movement. His musical approach emphasised collective improvisation and the harmolodic concept, and he experimented with unconventional improvisational structures and varied ensemble formats that influenced developments in avant-garde and experimental jazz.
