The D'Oyly Carte Opera Company is an English light opera company formed in London in 1875 to produce and promote the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan. Specialising in the production and touring of Victorian-era operetta, the company maintained a distinctive repertoire and performing tradition that influenced British musical theatre practice and the public reception of comic opera.
