H.M.S. Pinafore
Album by W.S. Gilbert & Arthur Sullivan & The D’Oyly Carte Opera Company & Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & James Walker
H.M.S. Pinafore is a comic opera by W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan, first performed in 1878. The work combines patter-style dialogue and tuneful Victorian operetta writing to satirise class distinctions and naval life, and it helped establish Gilbert and Sullivan's prominence and the development of the Savoy opera tradition.
