Dr. Hook, originally known as Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show, are an American rock band formed in Union City, New Jersey, in 1968 whose work blends country rock, folk rock and pop. They combined humorous, narrative songwriting with country-influenced arrangements and, from the mid-1970s, shifted toward a softer pop-rock and country-pop sound within the broader American country-rock and pop landscape.
