Soft Rock

Soft rock emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when musicians decided that hard-hitting guitar solos were simply too much excitement for a Sunday afternoon. Characterised by soothing melodies, lush instrumentals, and lyrics that often revolve around love and heartbreak, it’s essentially the soundtrack to many a lazy day or awkward first date. If there's a cultural contribution to be made, it's teaching us that it’s perfectly acceptable to cry whilst sipping a cup of tea on a rainy day.
