KMD are an American hip hop group formed in Long Island, New York, in 1988 and were active in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Combining sample-based production with politically charged and satirical lyrics, their work moved between socially conscious and playful styles and was associated with the emerging alternative hip hop scene before the group split amid controversy in the early 1990s.
