Jay Electronica is an American hip hop artist from New Orleans who began releasing mixtapes and internet singles in the early 2000s and emerged from the underground rap scene. His work combines dense, often spiritual and stream-of-consciousness lyricism with sample-based production drawing on jazz, soul and orchestral textures, and his career has been marked by sporadic releases and gradual movement into more visible collaborations within the wider hip hop landscape.
