Dennis Bovell is a Barbadian-born British reggae guitarist, bassist and record producer who moved to London as a child and began his career in the early 1970s, performing with the reggae band Matumbi and working across reggae, dub and lovers rock. His work combined dub production and mixing techniques with elements of electronic music and post-punk, and he produced and arranged music for British reggae and dub-poetry projects, contributing to the development of the UK reggae scene.
