Jackie McLean
Jackie McLean was an American jazz alto saxophonist from New York City who began his professional career in the early 1950s and became associated with the hard bop movement. Characterised by a sharp, penetrating tone and an angular improvisational style, he drew on bebop roots while later incorporating modal and avant-garde elements and also played a role in jazz education and the establishment of university jazz programmes.
