Smash Mouth are an American rock band formed in San Jose, California, in 1994, whose music draws on pop rock, ska punk and alternative rock. Their sound combines hook-driven pop-rock melodies with horn arrangements, surf and ska influences, and they shifted between radio-friendly pop-rock and more punk- and ska-oriented approaches during their career while attaining prominent placement in films and commercials.
