Smash Mouth are an American rock band formed in San Jose, California, in 1994 who blend elements of pop rock, ska punk and alternative rock. Their music features upbeat, guitar-driven arrangements with influences from ska, surf and power pop, and across their career they moved between raw rock sounds and more polished pop production while becoming a recurring presence in late-1990s and early-2000s popular culture and internet meme culture.
