Bonnie Raitt is an American blues, rock and folk singer-songwriter and guitarist from Burbank, California, who studied at Radcliffe College and began her professional recording career in the early 1970s after emerging from the Boston/Cambridge folk and blues scene. Her slide guitar technique features prominently, and she blends blues, folk, rock and country influences, moving from interpretations of traditional blues and roots material toward contemporary songwriting and roots-rock arrangements while engaging with social and political causes.
