The New Year's Day Cantatas are a set of sacred cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach composed in Leipzig around 1724. They exemplify Bach's mature sacred-cantata style, combining chorale-based movements, complex counterpoint and expressive instrumental writing for voices and orchestra, and form part of his wider Leipzig cantata cycles intended for the liturgical calendar.
