Orchestral Suites Nos. 1-3
Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & English Chamber Orchestra & Philip Ledger
Orchestral Suites Nos. 1–3 are a set of orchestral suites by Johann Sebastian Bach, composed c. 1717–1723. They exemplify Baroque dance-suite structure, opening with French-style overtures and proceeding through sequences of courtly and popular dance movements scored for strings with continuo and occasional winds and brass, and they represent a key element of Bach's Köthen-period orchestral output and of the orchestral suite tradition.
