Love for Three Oranges Suite / Scythian Suite
Album by Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev & Antal Doráti & London Symphony Orchestra
Love for Three Oranges Suite / Scythian Suite is a pairing of orchestral suites by Sergei Prokofiev, composed between 1915 and 1921. The music displays Prokofiev's early modernist language — driving, percussive rhythms, vivid and sometimes grotesque orchestration, terse melodic gestures and theatrical wit — and represents a transitional phase in his output as he forged a distinct orchestral voice bridging late-Romantic colour with 20th-century modernism.
