The Gayaneh Ballet
Album by Aram Ilich Khachaturian & National Philharmonic Orchestra & Loris Tjeknavorian
The Gayaneh Ballet (Gayane) is a ballet score by Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian, composed in 1942. The score blends Armenian folk-derived melodies with bold orchestration, pronounced rhythmic drive and vivid orchestral colours, and it occupies a prominent place in Khachaturian's output and the mid-20th-century Soviet ballet repertoire.
