Symphony No. 2
Album by Aram Ilich Khachaturian & Russian Philharmonic Orchestra & Dmitry Yablonsky
Symphony No. 2 is the second symphony by Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian, composed in 1943. The piece is a large-scale orchestral work that blends rhapsodic, folk-influenced melodies with driving rhythms, dense brass and percussion writing and richly coloured orchestration, and it represents a significant step in Khachaturian's symphonic development during the wartime years.
