Symphony No. 2 in D major is the second symphony by German composer Johannes Brahms, completed and premiered in 1877. The work is lyrical and pastoral in character, characterised by warm orchestration, expansive melodies and a classical four-movement structure, and it followed his First Symphony as he further established himself in the symphonic tradition.
