Symphony no. 2 in E minor, op. 27
Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & The Philadelphia Orchestra & Eugene Ormandy
Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27 is the second symphony by Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, completed in 1907. The work exemplifies his late-Romantic orchestral style with broad, sweeping melodies, lush string writing and expansive harmonic progressions, and it occupies an important place in his output as a large-scale orchestral work composed after the difficulties surrounding his First Symphony.
First released: February 1960
