Symphony no. 5
Album by Gustav Mahler & London Symphony Orchestra & James DePreist
Symphony No. 5 is the fifth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed in 1901–1902. The five-movement late-Romantic orchestral work features bold dynamic contrasts, dense counterpoint and expansive brass and string writing, and it represents a key transition in Mahler's output toward more instrumental and formally concentrated symphonic writing in his middle period.
